Title: phone program help

daughter has a lap top
nothing great
 800 meg cpu
512 meg memory
xp home
Tiger direct. $600.00

here laptop will show a call comming in ( we are on dial up)
it even tells who is calling. Ask if she should let call to come in.

I want to be able to do this. :hissy:
I have no idea how here lap top is doing it.

I could be completely wrong, but I believe you need a v.92 modem and need to have call waiting on your phone line.

Why don't you just get Caller ID? What is the difference?

I do have v92 phone modems

I do have call waiting and caller ID

My PC's do not tell me I have a call comming in when I am on the internet.
Daughters lap top will
even tells who it is and gives you the option to let the call in.
It will turn off the modem and the phone rings.

When I am on the internet, I have no idea I had a call

It must be becouse her lap top is a store brand with restore disks

mine are home built. and I have a box of modems from my work.
all new, but my work bought a crap load of new PC's
1st thing thay did was yank the sound cards, and modems.
a few months later Thay gave me the box of parts.

I am wandering if there is some program I can download to do the same thing.

off to google  ;)
