Title: Konami Target cabinet
Post by: RayB on February 16, 2007, 10:46:45 am
We've already covered the Midway one many times, yet I didn't even know this Konami one existed!

On clearance at $99 apparently.
(I wouldn't want one... just sharing some info)

Where'd you get the info about it being on clearance.  For $100 I'd grab one.

Yah...but for $100 it may be worth it (but I'd HAVE to paint the P.O.S.)....

If it had decent joysticks and a monitor that wasn't blurry I'd get one for $100.00

So you saw one in person?  Crappy sticks?  Crappy monitor?   What runs in this thing?

I'd love to see and inside picture of it.

I saw and played the midway one wich is made by the same company.  It was  crap. The monitor was a chep tv and the games were really hard on the eyes. The sticks and buttons felt like they were cheap toys.

Here is the retroblast review of the midway version.  It has photos of the insides. :)

I can't emphasize enough how completely crappy the cabinets made by this company are.  You are better off buying a used computer system, a HotRod and a shelving unit if you insist on standing up.  I think I played this in Office Depot or something and it was horrible.  A total waste of 5-10 minutes of my time that I'll never get back.

I would liken pressing the buttons on it to squeezing a square peg through a round tube.  I mean, the thing pushes back at you.  Try playing a shump on there and if you even last three levels you should get the machine for free - hey, it's cold in some parts, the kindling will help!  If you're wondering how the stick feels, put a steel rod in some concrete, and move it around after it sets - there's your responsiveness.  Your dead zone is nil, it might move a couple of CM in any direction, making it very hard to get a feel for the control.

These things really miss the mark.  I'm dissappointed some people who don't know better will think all arcade controls are like the ones on these things.
