Title: Is Ultracad the same a MAME?
Post by: madgammer on February 15, 2007, 10:40:53 pm
Not sure exactly what ultracad is, but it seems to be some type of emulator.  Couldn't find much online except some company history that the company has been bought and sold a few times and a lot of "expansion" cartridges for sale.  Seems like the cartridges are pretty expensive and may not be worth the investment.

Anyone own one of these and is it worth getting a fighter one for a few hundred?

Which fighter one are you talking about for a few hundred?

The "game packs" usually run $300+ for each pack.  Basically, it runs an emulator you won't be able to modify or add anything to unless you buy it from them.  It's all proprietary.

You'll have a TON more flexibility with a basic PC build.

It's a ultracad fight machine.

That's the tip on proprietary thing.  I agree based on the cost of the other games it's a lot cheaper to just get a different setup so i'll just break down the game and do something else with it.

The tekken 2 machine works great.   Not a dedicated cabinet, but still works.  A Little bit of damage at the bottom, but $150 for a working tekken 2 isn't a bad deal.  The guy didn't have keys so I need to find a place that sells locks

The second is the ultracade cabinet this thing is huge!  I didn't realize it was so big so I had to make 2 trips because I couldn't fit them both in a truck at once.  I really like the design on the cabinet.  The front has a nice slide out type of drawer and there was some parts in it, but not the entire setup.  I disconnected the board and the end said "dynamo/jamma".

Anyone have a link or know about this connector.  I'm wondering if I can I just get a PCB and slap it into the shelf?  Since it's already wired with 6 buttons I noticed another small connector.  I'm hoping this is the "kick" harness???

Ultracade is the debbil!

Can't help you there, but if you are looking for tubular locks, check out a fellow BYOAC member:

I have purchased locks and pcb feet from him in the past, and the price is great, plus fast shipping. Looks like he is out of locks right now, but usually re-stocks.
