I used the vinyl/batting idea that was brought up on my jukebox project on the control panel here... it is awesome! I play for hours and my hands dont hurt a bit...
anyways...its not much to look at, but its fun to sit and play on
(sorry, i have 0 production shots)

Whacha got on the insides? I think it looks pretty good.
-
i'll take pics of the inside tonight...just a motherboard, hard drive, etc...the 15" LCD is nice...
I asked a buddy if he had any spare 15" CRT's layin around...he gave me the LCD for free :D:D:D

Details, Details man! ( I devour all the info I can on bartops ) Whats your hardware & software specs?
-
Athlon XP 1800+

80GB hard drive

I'm thinking of making a Defender/Stargate bartop using thin ply like that. Since I don't know if there is t-molding available in that size (and it might be a nightmare to slot cut), I just planned to use a roundover bit so the edges didn't look so unfinished.

So the control panel is soft underneath the vinyl? That's so cool!
-
Cool - wheres your speakers? What kind of encoder you using?
-
speakers are sitting next to the box in the pictures..but they get mounted on top (looks like :censored: but it goes w/ the look so well :D)
using a keywiz eco 2...PERFECT as soon as i plugged it in.
yep, soft under the vinyl. makes playing games on it nice and cumfy :D

I am about to start one of these.. I have a couple of the 15" lcd lying around and might try somthing with them.
-
Cool. Very nice way to use up scraps. :)
-
That's great!
Cool control panel

Now that you have done the CP with cushy vinyl you need to do the whole cab in that motif. Don't forget to use a few vinyl covered buttons to give it the full upholstered feel. That would be one unique cab. You might have to change the name then, how about the Cushy Cab. :laugh2:

Heh, if he does that then he'll have cats sleeping on top of it for warmth.

hahaha...
not sure what im going to do to finish it...i have some 1/2" t-molding on the way, though.
thanks for the comments, ill post more pics as things progress

Looks good. ;-)
Glad to see it finally getting some use.
-
BM,
You might want to consider the black vinyl from Parts Express for the rest of the cab. Not too pricey though the shipping kinda sucks...

Love the cab!

Cool Man!! All I use on my cabs are wood scraps also. I take pride in trying to hide that though!
YOU ARE VERY PROUD OF IT!! Awesome Mini!! Awesome... :applaud:

i really like the padded control panel idea. it certainly can get sore on a regular panel with a marathon session. i think with some experimentation you could find a way to mount everything on it so that it doesnt twist the vinyl.
do you have a pic of the whole machine to post?
