Title: NEO-GEO question
Post by: IG-88 on April 05, 2003, 08:01:32 pm
You know I've always wondered, on the opening screen shots of some of the NEO-GEO games what does this text mean:

NEO-GEO
MAX 330 GEAR
PRO-GEAR SPEC
SNK
anyone know?

I always thaught (am almost sure) that it is another NEO-GEO system, or an upgrade or something. All the games that run on it have better graphics ect.

Well.. it's a Neo Geo.. max 330 gear = maximum of 330Mb per cart (not sure what gear implies, probably just sounds kool; 330Mb was some kind of supposed max cart size, but they broke through it later -- which is why some carts have different screens).. pro-gear spec = some kind of comment on the arcade quality of the machine?.. SNK is the manufacturer.

Sorry if I over-detailed.. bored ::)

This stuff just used to impress when 16-bit was new. Remeber the "High Definition Graphics" text on the Mega Drive? Equally meaningless.

Actually thats supposed to say;
NEO-GEO
MAX 330 MEGA
PRO-GEAR SPEC
SNK
not that it makes any difference
