Title: Hacking Crayola/KYE Kidsball to work with Opti-PAC
Post by: 1UP on April 05, 2003, 04:30:49 am
Posted this on my site a while back, but thought some of you who don't visit frequently might also find this useful:

I have tested the Kidsball thoroughly and it seems to work just as well as before the hack, but now it goes right into the USB Opti-PAC!

Thanks go to Kelsey of Oscar Controls for helping me with the electronics.

I think you should check the links on your site, esp the last link on this page:

Wow, that seems like a lot of work - especially the cutting and widening of the encoder wheels.  Is this something that you'd do again?

Very cool info, though.

Well, looking back, I could have saved some money and trouble by just looking for a good deal on a Happ trackball on ebay, but since I had the Kidsball already, I couldn't let it go to waste.  For me, this was the best way, since I could only fit so many cables out the side of my rotating panels.
