A buddy of mine was speculating and I was surious what you would all think.
I recently bought a PS3 that can run a few operating systems. Most popular of which is the Linux Yellow dog. Can MAME be ported to play on the PS3 and thus run my cabinet eventually?
-
I just have one question: Why, oh why, would you want to put a $600 console into a cabinet?
-
lol
More a IF i could rather than a SHOULD i question.

You might get better answers in Consoles....perhaps this can be moved there?
As for your question, I found this (http://www.bannister.org/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=26072&page=1&fpart=2) thread.
And check out this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwoIKYZs76Q) video.
So, it looks like a yes!

once linux is running i would assume a linux distro of mame would get you what you need.

I can't wait to see what Phil comes up with. Right now he has a live CD that contains MAME, a simple front end, Robby The Roto. You just insert the cd, boot into the OtherOS, and run directly from the cd without installing Linux. I need to download and try it out myself.
