Title: Golden Tee Fore 2005 Sync Issues
Post by: kilumenati on February 06, 2007, 02:29:13 am
Hello all...

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this and I have no experience with arcade systems, but I'm having a problem with a Golden Tee Fore 2005 redboard kit I purchased from eBay. I have an original GT 98 Jamma cabinet with a Nanao 26 inch monitor ( Ms8-26su ) which works without any issues. I read the instructions on installing the new GT 2k5, after connecting everything per the manual, I powered it up and got scrambled picture. I have the GT 2k5 board set to Low Res. mode since the GT 98 was originally Low Res. I'm not sure if I need to adjust Jamma connections or need some monitor adjustments.

I have attached a picture of what I'm seeing on the screen.

Thanks...

Roshan.

Simply won't work with that monitor...... Totally the wrong type! I don't know who sold you that kit but I'd be questioning the instructions. GT 2K5 running in Low Res, is NOT the same thing as a Low Res arcade monitor.

The low res / high res switch on that board only refers to the output resolution. Much like you can set 640X480 or 1024X768 on a PC graphics card and call those low res or high res a PC monitor is still syncing at 31Khz in both of those.

Your board is outputing a singnal that is at too high a frequency for your Low Res arcade monitor.  Your only solution here is a change of monitor. If you keep trying to run it like that you WILL fry the monitor and or the output graphics on the board.

As far as I remember.... GT98 uses a 15Khz low res arcade monitor. GT 2k5 uses a Medium or High Res (would have to check which one, don't remember off the top of my head) arcade monitor running at 24Khz or 31Khz. So unless your monitor is either High Res or Multisync it simply won't work.

Julian,

Thanks for the reply. Ok, that makes sense and I believe the Nanao monitor I have supports both frequencies, 15khz and 24khz by moving a cable or two... I'm not positive on this, but I've searched around and read few posts mentioning this.

I also bought the kit on my own, without thinking of any other items or requirements I'd need, since most of the auctions had said you are able to upgrade the older versions too. I suppose I should have looked into this a bit more before spending a few hundred bucks.

cheers,

Roshan
