Title: TurboTwist spinner revisited
Post by: clockwork on February 05, 2007, 07:44:10 pm
There are several options for this spinner and I kind of like the blue one, but there's quite a size difference between it and the smallest. Does size matter? (*giggle*) Should I just pick the one I like the look of best or are there precision/grip considerations?

I have the Big Blue one and it works well for me.... looks great on the panel too.

Are you trying to say you will not be going for the token in-layed knob?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that renders all of the others useless.

Spring for it if you can.  Beg, borrow and or steal!!

He's right! Get the token knob. You also won't need to buy the extra energy storage cylinder so that subtracts 5 bucks from the total knob price. I have one and think it is a finely crafted piece of machinery.

Okay, 1) Where is this token inlaid knob? 2) What is an energy storage cylinder?

Link direct to the token knob...Get the token knob Brem and you won't need the weight cylinder.

ROFL! I'm going to hold out just to irritate you. >:D

Really, though, I still dun quite get it. What's the energy cylinder for and why do I need it or not need it if I buy the token knob? Is it basically just a weight and the token weighs enough that I don't need it?

The energy cylinder acts like a flywheel giving you longer spin times.  It also gives you a weighty feel to the spinner for a better tactile sensation.  From reading the thread on the new token knob it weighs about the same as the energy cylinder so you get the same result with one or the other.

In layman's terms it just feels and acts better with the energy cylinder or token knob than without.

Gotcha. Thanks for clearing that up. So I don't need the token knob. :laugh2:

Sorry, DK. :P

Heh.  This is correct.  If you are happy with the look and feel of the stock plastic knobs and you aren't interested in the variable resistance capabilities of the TokenTop knobs, then you will be fine with the ESC instead.

But if you are a big fan of Arkanoid-type games, you might find the extra capability of the TokenTop knob to be highly desirable ;)

RandyT,

Can the token knob be used with other spinners? Such as original Tron spinner or a DOT spinner?

If it has a standard .250" shaft, it will physically fit.  If it's much larger, then forget it.

I just got my ultimarc spintrak today and hooked it up to my optipac on a kwik rig and i have to say its fantastic for both araknoid and pole position. I never had the pleasure of playing the former with a spinner and only now realize the advantage i highly recommend this spinner. I got the heavy flywheel not for the "spin forever feature" ( although its only 20-30 sec in reality) but for the heavier feel.. not too cheap but worth every penny :applaud:

I really do wish Randy would offer knobs like the ones the ultimarc spinner uses.  I think they're groovy.  Maybe they fit if mix and match  :-\
