It was my suggestion (I hope it was a good one)
http://www.arcadezentrum.com/forum/board.php?boardid=68 (http://www.arcadezentrum.com/forum/board.php?boardid=68)
We could use this to bounce Ideas of each other I guess and announce new Plug-ins to the rest of the world too.
PS Its a German basen board but if you have 'half a brain' to develop plug-in's I'm sure you can cope with logging on to it.
You can write your posts in English

And get used to saying "Ich verstehe nicht". Or something like that! :laugh2:

I think you will find they understand very well. Clever folk are the Germans I think :-)
Note" A lot of good stuff is to be found outside USA too...
including.... (not a complete list of course)
Like me = Pest (aus)
headkaze (aus)
minwah = MameWah (UK)
swindus = MaLa (Germany)
youki = Atomic (France)
tspeirs = GameEx (UK)
and of course all you good folk here in this USA based forum
What a wonderfull global team we make ;D

Variety is the spice of life
Sounds cool loadman, I will have to join up so we can gasbag about plugins :)

Sorry if I was misunderstood. I was trying to say that I would have to say that a lot (not them). It was not meant as a slam on all of those multi-lingual folks that I so envy (but am too lazy to do anything about).
-
opps Sorry :-[
-
No problem! Just wanted to make it clear that I'm the idiot! ;D

I would be more than happy to set up a forum on my site if you need one dedicated in English. You can have as many sections as you want.
UPDATE!! I made one quick, if you want you can use it if not let me know and I will uninstall it.

I think Mala having an English forum is a good idea.
It looks a bit plain without a banner logo though, so I knocked one up.
-
I like the english forum. Thanks, Squirrelly.
Nice logo, hk.
-
So who should be the moderators? Any other topics you want added?

by the way if you guys really want a forum just in english, I will probably use my other domain name and have that site dedicated to it. This was just a quick one I could install. Or I could register a new domain name, just my way of saying thanks. I could give the MaLa guys full access to it if they want. What do you think?

I second the english forum. As a resident of the US, I (like all other english speaking only US residents) believe that english is the language of the world ::). Kidding aside, we just need to make sure we have consensus on a single forum. My 2 cents.

So who is the master mind behind Mala, Loadman?? What does he think? I just don't want to be stepping on anyones toes. If we do an all English forum do you want a dedicated domain name, like Malafe.com (already taken) or something.

I agree. He may want to retain control. :dunno I await his view

squirrellydw,
thanks for paying back in that way. But I think another MaLa forum is not required. There is an official MaLa forum (http://www.arcadezentrum.com/forum/board.php?boardid=61) and it is no problem to write and ask in english there. There are a lot of english speaking users and posts already. Then of course the BYOAC forum is also a place where MaLa users can find help.
The problem I see is that the information is spreaded over several places. That can be very confusing ... Another point is then I have to check 3 different forums at all.
If you want to create a platfrom for MaLa plugin devs, no problem, you are welcome, but there is no need for a new official general purpose MaLa forum in my opinion.

Maybe we should make a forum just for Arcade Application Development? (Call it AAD?) Then all us coders and developers can chat about the more technical stuff. I think that would be cool

That works! Do you think we can get a subforum on here?
-
If they don't want to do it here I can do it. Just let me know, of course it would be better on here

loadman,
With a bit of help from AltaVista Babel Fish, I was able to register and post to the new Mala Plugin forum! ;D
I've posted my MaLa Stub test app. For those interested, here's the link - MaLaStub.zip (http://www.dndw.com/arcadeaddiction/downloads/MaLaStub.zip)

I don't use it much anymore. You quicky get an idea
I will check out you latest stub offering

what is the Malastub?

what is the Malastub?
It is a 'Kewl Tewl' to assist Plug-in Developers from having to Launch/quit MaLa just to test things on their plug-ins.
It will also save me changing my personal MaLa set-up all the time just for testing purposes
This KICKS BUTT!
I love it
It will save me a lot of pain loading and Quitting MaLa to test stuff
I just tried it with two Plug-ins
I am going to use this a lot
As you pointed out in your doc. Some Plug-in's expect things in a certain order
Two suggestions:
1) Can you have an option that only enables buttons in order?
eg You have to hit 'Mala Start' before the others are enabled, All buttons are dimmed when you hit Screensaver start until you hit screen saver stop etc etc and you have to hit 'Mala Quit' before you quit your ap?
2) Changing selected Plug-ins sometimes crashed your ap. Mainly a problem with the more complex Led-Wiz ap (no big deal) . You just have
Also I think Swindus is planning to add a new trigger 'current screen orientation' to the next version. Can future additions like that easily be added to your app?
Thanks

I found that hovering over most items will show the link at the bottom and the link is usually pretty descriptive and in English! ;D

loadman,
Thanks for the props!
I had considered adding logic to enable the event buttons in some order, but each plugin is different - for example, the Mature plugin doesn't even require the Mala Start event. In the end, I just decided to let the user make or break the plugins. :dizzy:
It should be no problem adding any new events or event data that swindus adds to MaLa.

Kewl... I will just be careful :P

I read the readme properly and noticed you can have it fire up automatically fire up within the BDE without re-naming the dll to mplugin
Super Helpful to me. I feel I should make a donation to the arzoo Beer fund or something.
-
I guess we should close this thread soon and use the new forum :dunno
anyway....
Installation
------------
MaLaStub.exe uses the same folder structure as MaLa.exe. All plugins (*.mplugin) should reside in a sub-folder called 'Plugins'. It will also detect any DLL (*.dll) in the same folder as MaLaStub.exe.
I am having a minor prob with this...
It finds the *mplugins and *dll's in a subfolder called 'plugins
But it does not seem to find *.dlls in the same folder as MaLaStub.exe so using it to auto run with delphi does not find the *.dll's

Sorry about that... the readme was wrong. MaLaStub only detects the .mplugin and .dll files in the Plugins sub-folder. So you need to have your development files in the plugins folder and point the BDE to MaLaStub.exe one folder above.
…\<DevFolder>
MaLaStub.exe
…\<DevFolder>\Plugins
<your plugin>.dll
I've fixed the readme in the zip file.

No Worries :)

Arzoo,
Just wanted to say again how great your MaLaStub app is.
It saves me so much time and it makes it more fun because you can test stuff more easily.
You da man

Loadman / Swindus,
Do you have admin rights on that message board? Can you please reset my password (username = edge)?
I tried to use the "Forgot Password" functionality, but the verification code it sends me is rejected as invalid. :(
Thanks.
If not, I will sign up with a diff name.

Jason (inventor of Mala hardware) is a forum admin. He is the one who set-up the Plug-in section
Cool guy too
I will ask him

@edge
I talked to Jason. Please register with edge2 and he will merge the two accounts later.
