I have an old, kinda not working Motorola Mpx220 smartphone. I really want to get it working again, because I want to use my NES emulators on the go.
Unfortunately, it won't turn on, and windows won't beep when I plug it in. I'm guessing there's something inside. Any advice? Anyone ever repaired a cell phone before?
Also, do you need a service provider to use it? I'd like to have the apps on it but I don't want to pay cingular, etc.
Thanks.

No need for a service provider on a smartphone it just turns into a pda
For fixing id check the battery try plugging it in the mains and see if the unit lights up saying its charging if it isn't then something inside is most likely screwed up

Tried that, won't charge, won't light up, or anything. Do you know anything about cell phone repair?

Id know the basics you will need a multimeter and check the pins on the usb/powerplug and see if power is getting to the unit (the pins haen't broken) check the board for anything unusual like burn marks etc (unlikely)
if that fails you will have to trace the power to see where it stops then u will know if its a blown resistor or cap etc.
Thats the only advice i can give u
