Like Marvel vs Capcom it is like the very left and right portions of the screen are cut off a little bit. Is this because the resolution of some of those games are a little horizontal/wider? It's okay if it is, just I lose a little bit of the player 2's picture/chracter icon.
My TV is untampered with as far as resolution settings and service menu settings. No biggie just wondering if it was like this on some of your mame setups.

Try setting the game's resolution to 640x480.
-
Yep, that usually does it. Might also try playing with Force Aspect Ratio On/Off.
-
tried the 640x480 thing. It didn't change I guess my TV just has some overscan on the sides. No big deal. I actually no there is some overscan on the sides because in Windows I can't see the scroll bar on windows that are maximized.

Yep, if your windows desktop is 640x480 and you can't see the sides, it sounds like overscan. Depending on your video card, you can sometimes adjust the TV out geometry in the 'display' control panel (right click on desktop, select 'properties'). ATI drivers allow you to change this anyway. Otherwise, you'll have to enter your TV's service menu and fix it there.

The resolution for CPS-1 and CPS-2 games is 384 x 224
So it's widescreen.

Yeah that's cool guys. I am the only one that notices it. It is a small thing. Friends are freaking amazed when they come over. They really like my gun games like All american laser games, and House the Dead 2.

Some of it is the games themselves. They utilize more screen area than most games if I remember correctly. Most of the console ports of the Capcom fighters even had an option in the options screen to play it in its original aspect ratio or squished a bit to fit a home TV.
If you have problems with overscan in general on your TV, you might search the web to see if your TV has a service mode. Most do--you just need to know the right combination of buttons to press on the remote. Obviously you have to be careful what you mess with in the menus, but there should be an adjustment to correct this.
