I was just wondering if EA or anyone else ever made a golf game for the PC that used a trackball like Golden Tee. I thought it would be cool to find one with updated graphics over Golden Tee 2000 (the latest version support by MAME).
-
Ummm... how about golden tee? Almost every version has been released to the pc.
-
Are you sure? I did a google search and came up with only one from '98. I also found it on IGN: http://pc.ign.com/objects/003/003106.html (http://pc.ign.com/objects/003/003106.html).
-
I'm fairly sure.

Can Mala launch these PC programs?
If yes, how?

Yes, it can. (http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Front-Ends)
If yes, how?
I don't know

I'm fairly sure.
There are several versions released in Mame, but I believe only one version released as a PC Game. If I'm wrong, please provide a link with some additional information on the different versions released for the PC.

THere is only one PC version of Golden Tee. its the 98 version and it doesnt really play like the Arcade. If I were you I would go with Tiger Woods. I have the 06, 05 and 04 versions and they play great with the trackball. Its alittle more involved then GT in putting but very fun game.
-
Ok cool. That's what I was thinking about but wasn't sure if the Tiger Woods games were playable with a trackball.

walls - tiger woods doesn't support 640x480, right? 800x600 is lowest it will go?

800x600 from 2005 down . but it seems that the 2006 version requires more than 800x600 cos l have tried with my multisync monitor and it doesnt let me view it. Can anybody confirm this?
-
I have 2005 installed and "out-of-the-box" the lowest res it supports is 800*600, but I found a neat little utility on a Widescreen gaming forum that you can use to patch the game and input any resolution you like.. I currently have it running at 640*480 with no problems...
I'm currently trying to track it down again so I'll edit this post in a bit...
EDIT: Found it: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/index.php?title=UniWS (http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/index.php?title=UniWS)
It seems to only have support for Tiger Woods 2004 and 2005, but I would imagine given the nature of the forum it may grow to support the newer ones .... well that is unless a better solution wasn't on their forums somewhere. Either way I use 2005 so this worked perfecty for me.

Are you playing the game with a trackball?
-
Yeap. The game runs rather well, but don't expect the same kind of fast camera action as the arcade version of Tiger Woods. t's a PC game so the action is a bit more nuanced, giving you your player's reactions to your swing and such.
As far as controls, so far I've only needed a keyboard once to type the name of a custom player I created. Unlike GT, you have to click your player with the left mouse/trackball button before you can swing. This is because the mouse/trackball is used for the menu system and turning your player, as well..

OrganizJerk - nice find!! I have TW2005 and will try it on my arcade monitor tonight.
