Title: U360 problem
Post by: squirrellydw on January 30, 2007, 10:16:28 pm
I emailed Andy, but I thought I would ask here also.

I seem to have a problem with at least one maybe two u360s.  I upgraded the firmware from 1.5 to 1.7 on all four u360s.  Now one is not working at all, it was before.  Any idea?

The other three work fine except one has a small issue.  They all have the circular restrictor on and two of the three go in a circle when I test them, the other one goes in a square and hits the corners.  Any idea?

Thanks

I have no idea why one would have stopped after the firmware update.

As for the oddball square one...do you have a different map applied to that joystick?  Like the two that are working have the analog map applied and the one that is square has some sort of diagonal 4-way map?

I'm going to suggest re-assinging id's to them all in the ultra utility. This might take care of it.

Let us know.

They all have the analog map, I doubled checked that and even changed it than changed it back.

Here is what I just noticed, the one that is not working doesn't even have the light on when its pluged in.  The other one that has other issue the light seems to blink.

I did try re-assinging the IDs and that didn't work

I remember reading a post on here about this sort of thing when his were upgraded to 1.7.  I can't seem to find it right now.  Perhaps you could search around a bit...

Good luck,
Rick

It is my understanding that if there is no red LED, the PCB is dead.  Try it on another PC to be sure and/or plug it in as the only USB device on the bus.  If there is still no LED lit, you should probably contact Andy.

1. Disconnect all 3 working U360s
2 .Now reconnect fourth not working U360 to one from USB port where 3 U360s were working
3. Check if now this not working U360 will work and post it here.

Still no luck.  Andy thinks the PCB is dead and I agree.  Not sure about the map issue but he is sending me two new boards.  Have to love Andy and Ultimarc, he really understands customer service.  I will not hesitate to order anything from  him.  He goes out of his way to help you and does it quickly.

Thanks Andy

I found that thread, not sure if it will help you, though.  Worth checking out...

Rick

I am using a laptop so I can't access the MB.   I will remember this when I order my new computer though

Thanks
