While waiting for my IPAC from Divemaster I decided to do some artwork.
Obviously I copied 1UP's artwork background and dragged and dropped my own character art on to it.
The help I need is I want to change the yellow to black and the current black background to something else that still emphasizes the character art.
Here it is, of course I would have to email you the original file which is just over 5 Meg zipped.
Anybody willing to help out??

What you want is very easy - you don't even need photoshop (unless I'm misunderstanding you). You just need the paint bucket tool. Google that and photoshop and you should be able to get it. If your going to be in this hobby, you might as well learn how to do it.
You'll want to start with the base image (as in, no characters on it).

Black will let the color stand out the best. Colors other than true gray (equal quantities of r,g,b) will more than likely clash with the colors of the art. Black, white and gray, are great because it is totally neutral so it goes with everything. (edit: Although I do not think that white will work to make a cool arcade background) As to removing the yellow, this is an easy one. If you go to Adobe's website, most of the time they have a 30 trial version of Photoshop. Even Photoshop elements will work for this. Grab the magic wand tool and select the yellow. Then in the menu, select fill with and select black. You might have to go around the border and make a couple of little touch ups as the magic want sometimes does not get everything. Personally I would go at it with paths and make a vector mask, but if you are just learning, magic wand is your friend. If you continue to learn PS, be careful not to let the wand become a crutch.

Thanks, I think I'm on the right path.
I couldn't find the paint bucket tool anywhere but then found it hidden under the gradient tool section

After a quick 20 minute crash course

You thinks its too busy???

Is it sideart? If so - I think it needs the name of your machine somewhere on it.
-
Yep, side art.
I haven't come up with a name/theme yet.
Its a converted Arch Rivals machine (one of my faves), so I'm keeping the Arch Rivals marquee.
Other than that, its up for grabs

If you still can, try to go a little darker with your gray. It looks good small, but once you get it blown up, it might be too bright. It is kind of like when you pain the house, the swatch looks like a great color, then when you see it big and slopped across the whole wall you think... crap, that's not right at all. (um... not that this has ever happened to me ::))

Good advice, and no, it's not too late.
