Title: Killer Instinct
Post by: Razor on January 29, 2007, 06:03:46 am
I noticed people had some problems with this in the past, was wondering if there is a fix for it at all?  The game itself seems to run fine on my cab, but the audio stutters which spoils the experience.  Im running it on an athlon 2800+, 256mb ram, the version im running is 1.5d.

I did consider using Ultra64, but didnt want another emulator running in my cab, preferring to keep it simply Mame.

Sounds like your cpu just isn't fast enough.  I'm 95% sure that is the problem.  You can always try getting another 256 MBs of RAM and see if that helps.

What version of mame are you running?

Using Mame 0.89beta I set up a cab running on an Athlon 3000+ with 512MB RAM and it was plenty fast enough to run Killer Instinct 1.
(KI2 is a bit more processor hungry though and certain levels become unplayable.)

Make sure you're running the latest version of Mame.

That's what I was getting at.  His problem may be that he's using a new version of mame.  Try using an older one, like what chris2922 mentioned -- mame089 or maybe something from the mame09x line.
