I ordered 2 Competition Joysticks but have not received them yet and just wanted to get a jump on the know how and hole drilling, Ive found alot of info of the buttons, 1 1/8" spade bit for the buttons, but never seen what size hole for the joysticks and another thing to mount them do i need to disassemble them. I so ancy to get my stuff to start piecing it together. One last thing how far from the joystick should the buttons be I'm looking for a street fighter style 6 button config. and buttons spacing iv got the consensus 1 1/2" center to center.
thanks,
Scott.

on a similar note...
do joysticks come with paper templates...?
if they don't...they should...

You can use the same hole 1.125" (err 1 1/8" if my math is wrong) for a joystick.
No paper templates.
What you're gonna do is take off the E ring, take out the shaft, undermount the black part that has all the microswitches, reinsert the shaft through the hole from the top, put the actuator back on then fasten the E clip.. Very simple.

I personally don't like the buttons 1-1/2" center to center. There's too much gap between buttons. I like it so that the buttons are as close together as possible. Just my personal preference.

Here's a drilling template. Just print without scaling and ignore the button center points if you're not using the classic 6 button layout.
