I am hoping someone can help.
I have a SmashTV control panel that I'd like to scan.
I removed all the sticks/buttons and tried to scan it on a flatbed scanner at work, but because it took 6 scans to capture all the pieices of the CP, it was hard to match up .
So instead, I took a picture of it, on a white background, with my friends 10-megapixel camera. We cleaned it up in Photoshop. I think it looks pretty good. See attached pic.
Problem is, whenever we print it out on our HP Plotter (3 foot paper rolls), the blues are purple and there's a lot of banding. I know the printer/ink is ok (all the test patterns look perfect).
Any ideas? Would vectorizing help? I'd like to share this with the community since its been hard to find a good scan of SmashTV.
Thanks for your help.

Scan IS the way to go
scan at least at 300 dpi
turn off color correction from the scanner.
save the scans in a non destructive format png, tiff, psd
you wil have to play some puzzle once scanned to asemble the pieces.
regarding the color, you will have to perform some color corrections, as the scanner will not output the same exact color for the 6 parts. this is more true if you let color correction on.
regarding the printing, in order to have a real WYSIWYG chain (it's a profesional job) you'll have to "etalonate" the whole chain, screen, and printing.
vectorisation will add a nice sharp touch to the result, and wil allow to perform some color corections during the tracing.

That is a Printer profiling issue not a scanning or file problem. The blues are out of gamut for your printer. HP's are also notorious for banding, which could be several issues, the paper is not right for the ink, the paper is feeding to quickly, or not fast enough, etc....
Welcome to my world :)

Thanks, guys.
zorg - I will attempt the scanning again, with those options turned off on the scanner. I hope it makes each scan the same size/ratio. When I tried to line things up the first time, things were not lining up.
scottp - I have the raw photoshop file (140Megs). Would it be something I can pay for you to check out and print with your service? Or is it not good enough for printing at all?

I would have to check out the full size image. I did not the get the CP with the artwork I recently purchased from CAG (I have the sideart/marquee) so... if it is half way decent I would print it for you for the cost of a shipping and shipping tube if I can add it to my collection. That way we can also work together on getting it the right size.

Scott - Sounds like a plan. I will upload the full size image and PM you the URL.
Thanks!
