Title: WTB: GBA Flash Card
Post by: pmc on January 28, 2007, 05:42:52 pm
Time to load up my daughter's Gameboy Advance SP with NES ROMs for an upcoming vacation (long flights). I know alot of you guys moved on to a DS long ago and you probably have a GBA flash card gathering dust. Perhaps I can take it off your hands.

I've got a Flash2Advance 128 Megabit.  Parallel port version.

I've read in multiple places that the printer-port version is not compatible with the GBA SP. True? I found this article  (http://www.mqp.com/fun/gb_f2a.htm) which shows how to modify the linker cable circuit to be compatible with the SP.

I got one of these (http://www.gameboy-advance.net/flash_linker/flash_advance_linker.htm) with a 128 mb card.

The GBA Saves are a little wonkey for some games so I use it exclusively to run PocketNes, which runs perfectly on it.  Let me know if you are interested and we can work on a price...that is, if you don't take the previous deal.

I've been considering a Supercard, but I'll PM you to see what we can do.

That's interesting. I wonder under what conditions problems exist? Maybe they updated the parallel cable after the SP came out?

Anyway, I'm sorry but I bought another unit. Thank you for the offer though. I really appreciate it.

I bought Hoagie_one's 128Mb card (link above). For PacketNES, it should be work fine. I'm not super enthused about parallel port and would rather have USB, but if it works fine (and I'm sure it will), I'll be happy.

You might be happy with pinballjim's Flash2Advance card which is nearly the same, but I think it's a bit older than the Flash Advance cards.

Alternately, if you have a spare CF or SD card, check out the Supercard (http://www.supercard.cn/). I was very close to buying one of them. You can get them for like $45. I think the only drawback to consider is that a) they aren't 100% compabible for .gba usage, and b) there's a two-step save-your-game sequence. But for cheap 1 or 2 gigabyte storage option, it's hard to ignore.

Alternately, look at the M3 or another DS+GBA variant that you can move it to DS later on.

Tell you one thing, I'm dizzy from learning all about this stuff. I just wanted something quick and dirty for my kid so she could play Mario Bros. :)
