Title: Proposal for project TANK 8/Adding Top Fire Button Question
Post by: Chunce DeLeone on January 26, 2007, 09:49:31 am
Has anyone ever thought of making a reproduction of a TANK 8,  How cool would that be?

Also Has anyone actually seen one of the original tank 8's?

I just think that as I finish my CP I see the TANK games being a crowd favorite due to its great game play and simplicity.

Along with the TANK 8 theme, I have been toying with the idea, of drilling through the shaft of a joystick to add a top fire button specifically for TANK and tron,  Has anyone done this, and I know about the throead that has the Command Control Shaft, I not talking about that, I want to know if anyone has sucessfully moded an ordinary ball top to have a top fire button

I was just thinking of doing the same thing.  Shouldn't be too hard.  The hole would only have to be big enough for a single wire, since you could use the shaft as the ground circuit.  I am thinking of doing this with my 49-way joystick, not a ball top, but the hardest part will be drilling a hole down the shaft.

You WILL need a drill press to do this.  I can guarantee there is no way a regular drill would cut it.  I guess this will give me an excuse to buy a drill press. hehe.

The other option would be to look for a steel tube with the same dimensions as the joystick shaft.  Then just cut the tube to length.

Good luck.
