We were watching this program on TV last night.
Being from New Zealand and not understanding how the American justice system works we were trying to figure out how this guys gets paid?
Can someone please fill us in?

I know he rounds up the baddies but who pays him?
-
The bail bondsman who posted his bail...he doesn't get that money back till the criminal shows back up.
The bail bondsman puts out a bounty for said criminal.

Thanks,
So Dog has no power? As in the Law?
How does a bail bondsman make his money? Do they charge interest or something?

the way it works (pretty much). Is that the Judge will let you out of jail if you deposit a bond (lets say $20,000) that you will get back when you go back to court.
If you do not have the money you can pay a bail bonds man (usually 10% $2,000), and they will deposit the bond.
when you appear in court the bail is returned.
if you do not return to court the bail bondsman is out of the full bail. And they will pay Bounty hounters to track you down and put you back in jail so that they can get their money back.

and generally if you fail to appear (jump bail) and the bounty hunter returns you to custody of the court, recovering the bail the bondsman put up, you forfeit the 10% you put up. I also think they generally keep a portion of the 10% even if you do show up for court...

Many bail bondsmen act as their own bounty hunter. This is the case with Dog. I am sure, though that he takes bounty jobs for other bondsmen as well.

the 10% fee is usually the fee for the Bondsman, You do not recover that. even if you do show up for court.

What I like is his "Aqua Net" size can of Pepper Spray. How he totes it around, and swears by it. Also how he preaches to be so against guns, and he's "thankful" for not having to carry one. :blah: :blah: :blah:
Truth is, he's a convicted felon, so he's actually never allowed to own a gun again, much less use one on TV. Sounds like Dog's gun theories are just a case of sour grapes.
I like Beth though, she's all woman.
