Title: Will an inkjet printed CP covered with Spray Acrylic . .
Post by: sewerrat on January 25, 2007, 10:28:38 am
Be durable enough?
I have access to a designjet printer and can print it out on heavy duty photo paper.
Will the Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic provide a nice, hard, durable surface??

Thanks

It might hold up for a while, but nothing in a spray can will provide durability.  It will protect it from smudging due to to the moisture in your hands...for a little while.  But will wear quickly and probably start flaking in short order.

You'd be better off with clear laminate of some nature.  Even clear Contact brand shelf liner will probably be better than the Krylon, but unless you have no other options, I don't really recommend that either

Plus there's no way possible to get a smooth, perfect finish.  It will stick out easily as people actually look at the CP.  Then when it wears it will wear very unevenly.  Many people use plexi/lexan in this situation.

I would laminate it if you don't want to go the lexan route.
