Title: NOS CPO - is the adhesive too old?
Post by: rockin_rick on January 19, 2007, 07:44:36 pm
I'm looking into getting a moon patrol CPO.  I've seen NOS ones, and am wondering if the adhesive on the back is 'too old' or not as sticky as it once was.  After all, it's been 25 years...  Should I get a repro silkscreened CPO instead?  The adhesive on the repro would be new and as sticky as it should be.

Should I not be concerned that the NOS one is of potentially poor adhesion?  Has anyone had any issues with using an NOS CPO?

Which would be a better choice, all things considered.  Obviously, if the NOS one's adhesive is good, then the NOS is the better choice.  But if the adhesive is an issue, then is the repro a better choice?

Thanks,
Rick

I do alot of overlays at work, and would worry more about the print quality in this situation than anything.

You can get a local sign shop to laminate new adhesive to the old adhesive if necessary.
The old adhesive will stick well enough to the new adhesive, and the new adhesive will stick to the CP.

Most of the adhesives have a 7-10 year shelf life.
They will still work after that, but not as well.
