Do you all know which, if any, of the happs illuminated buttons would fit into my control panel's existing holes that it has for regular pushbuttons?
The reason I ask is that i have an existing control panel with pushbuttons that I want to remove and replace with labeled buttons...I don't want to simply stick a label on those pushbuttons, because that could look tacky...So, I thought the simplest thing to do would be to get the illuminated pushbuttons, which have a printable part, and put those in the machine.......but I can't seem to get a technician on the phone at Happs who knows which buttons work. They must be busy this time of the year or something
Thanks in advance for your help, guys.

Have a look at MikeDeuce's labels before you make any decisions:

That's a good option, and hopefully I'll hear back from the supplier (still haven't yet, but it's only been about 1.5 days)....
So does anyone know which, if any, Happs illuminated button fits into exisiting, standard pushbutton holes?

The link above is really good! You can also check out this review from RetroBlast! on an alternative to Happs... Up until recently (like within the last week) those Happs buttons were available. I just tried to find them on the Happs site and they are no where to be found now. ???

I did find the Happs translucent buttons here but no Happs numbers. :dunno I would think the cost is a detractor for this style. $6+ a button :P

I have the Happs illuminated buttons.
They require smaller holes than standard pushbuttons.
-
I don't have any direct personal experience with the Happs but when they were still listed on their site, I could've sworn the hold diameter was identical to the Competition style buttons :dunno

Competition is 1-1/8"
The small illuminated pushbutton

fit inside a 1" hole.
The button isn't really smaller, but the shaft is.
The other styles of Happs illuminated buttons
would be too large to use as regular buttons.

Part Numbers for the Happ parts used in the Retroblast Review.
58-0092-LT Blue
58-0098-LT Orange
58-0090-LT Red
58-0093-LT Green
58-0094-LT Clear
58-0095-LT Yellow
I highly recommend getting them from PonyBoy or divemaster127 on the BYOAC forums if you go the Happ route.

Are you confusing illuminated and translucent ? Or perhaps the OP was. Or maybe it looked like I was because i was suggesting MikeDeuce's labels as not looking cheap.
/me pulls out his trusty Happs catalog ...
Happs illuminated buttons come in a wide range of sizes, but most of the ones I am seeing have shafts with a diameter less than an inch. The four that I have are all too small to fit nicely in a 1.125" hole.

Well, shoot...I don't want to make a whole new control panel, and the holes are already there, and I definitely need to label the buttons somehow.....So hopefully I'll hear back from the dude with the vinyl stickers....Looking back through the threads, it sounds like he may go through periods where he goes dark, but maybe he'll come out of hiding again soon.

There are always button tags that you could use in the meantime ...not as sexy, but ....

So when was the last time anyone has heard from "Vinyl Decal" man? I've e-mailed him a couple of times in the past week but still haven't heard anything, which makes me wonder if he has left the MAME scene. Anybody hear anything from him?
