Title: Screen tilting
Post by: clockwork on January 14, 2007, 05:45:48 pm
Two questions. I've been planning my cab using the Project Arcade book. The book shows the monitor shelf being horizontal. If I want my screen tilted back, should I tilt the shelf or use a different method? I'm worried about preventing the monitor from sliding back.

Also, the book measures the shelf at 34" from the cab base. The front of the cab is 33". That's only 1" above the cab front, yet Saint says, and according to the picture, the shelf is just above the control panel. So really the shelf is at about 38-39". Is there a guideline to how high above the control panel the monitor should be for a comfortable view?

Shove a bit of wood in behind the base of the monitor. Or screw it to the shelf.

Is there a guideline to how high above the control panel the monitor should be for a comfortable view?

No... The answer is in your question! make it high enough for a comfortable view, and so that it looks right, in the space.

Don't stick slavishly to other peoples plans!.... The only time you need to do that is if you're making a 100% accurate replica cab.

Make it work for what you want yourself.

Thanks. Actually I realized that the height is already set for me given the design I'm using. So I just need to worry about the angle. I'll probably take your suggestion and just shove a piece of wood back there.
