Title: Need help with Mame32 - won't start games!

OK .... I'm new and thoroughly frustrated! I have both MAMEand MAME32 installed - all my ROMS work fine in MAME. I got Mame32 put the romsin the ROM folder (unzipped),and fired it up! Says it found em,and they are "working". But if I double click a game, the screen just flashes,and then back to mame32 - no windows open up at all. Checked the directories setup .. looks fine .. any thoughts?

The ROMs need to be zipped.
The ROM folder remains unzipped.
That's all I know.
There's a lot smarter people here
than me, so you've
got a good chance of finding out
the problem.

Naru is right. Make sure the roms are zipped inside the ROMS folder. Then run a game audit.

Ran the audit,went to "working",clicked on a game that is supposed to work, said it was fine, clicked run and it just flickered and back to mame32 again

Try setting up another version of mame32 in another directory.

Your ROMs version has to match your Mame version. Check out this program:

ClrMamePro (http://www.clrmame.com/)

If they don't, then get an older\newer version of Mame32:

JoyMonkey's Mame32 Archive (http://www.joymonkey.com/)

Since you have Mame and Mame32, verify you are pointing Mame32 to the correct ROM directory, under Options, Directories,

-or-

Try deleting the Mame32.ini file and re-run Mame32

-or-

Experiment with your video modes under Options, Default Game Options, Display. Try swapping DirectDraw/Direct3D.

I just had this happen yesterday.  It's not the roms because he would have gotten an error msg.  I rebooted and the problem went away.  :dunno

I had the very same problem . Tried loads of things but still couldn't get it to work . Downloaded Atomic FE  :applaud: and hey presto I was playing games within about 2 minutes , the plug and play modules are the dogs  :censored: for people like myself who are not the best at all this .
But I am the best at WONDERBOY   :cheers:
