Title: Sort of a controls question . .
Post by: sewerrat on January 12, 2007, 08:25:55 am
While awaiting for Dive to get some parts in and get my shipment of joys, trackball, buttons, etc I'm working on getting the PC up and running and I'm a little confused on how this will all tie into the IPAC I'll be getting.

More specifically, my FE (Mala) is working great and is launching both MAME games and SNES games (zsnes) (special thanks to Unclet for the great how-to guide).  Where the confusion comes in, and I'm not even sure I can ask this in an intelligible way) is:

I've been playing some of the MAME games with just the keyboard but it the SNES games work with different keys.  How do I wire up the buttons/joys to control both MAME games and SNES games?  Is there a "MAME-like" keyboard mapping I have to load into zsnes??  What happens if I load other emulators on??

Thanks

If you wire all the buttons and Joysticks to the correct slots on the I-Pac, it will be preconfigured for all Mame games by default.

In Zsnes allows you to change the control configuration.  So you can just re-adjust Zsnes's controls to be the same as Mame.  This will cause some problems, however, since their are a few technical keys set in Zsnes that are identical to game keys in mame. ( Example 1 in mame = start; 1 in zsnes = change graphics setting.)

If it bothers you that much though, you can simply use WinIpac to change the keys registered by the ipac.

Hope that is what you were wondering.

Just as it is,
