I know they may be purchased online from sites such as http://www.castercity.com/ (http://www.castercity.com/)...
But is there any local chain store that sells a good set? Looking for 3-4" with mounting bracket. Home Depot and Lowes don't have any. ???
Just curious where everyone is getting them...

Both Home Depot and Lowe's sure do carry casters. I've bought multiple sizes at both stores within the last year.
-
If you live near an Harbor Freight, they have casters at a cheaper price than Lowes or Home Depot.
-
shardian - Ah Hearbor Freight, there is a store here...I'll try there. Thanks
ChadTower - I couldn't find them at Home Depot or Lowes. I asked and they shrugged their shoulders or pointed me to the cabinet aisle to look at the mini casters for drawers...Do you remember where abouts they were at the store?

Erm, I do remember they were near the hand trucks and furniture dollies, wherever that is in your local store. Don't bother asking employees, they couldn't tell you where their own foot is if you removed their shoe for them and pointed to it before asking.
Any good local hardware store should have them too.

They should have been in that aisle, but they charge like $10-$15 per caster there. :o
I think the 2-3" ones at harbor freight are $3 or $4 .
-
I've never paid that much... I believe I usually use 2" locking casters and pay in the same range for each at Home Depot.
-
I bought the last batch at Lowes, the heavy duty type 4" swivel ones with breaks were $8 each. I seem to remember them being in a bin on the floor someplace.
Grainger has some real nice ones, (rubber wheels, etc) but they were on the pricey side.
-
I remember them being pretty expensive the one time I looked for them at lowes. I guess I'll have to look again next time I am there.

Harbor Freight is where I got mine. Heavy Duty 3" casters for like $3.50.

Heavy Duty rubber 4" ones for $2.99

Don't go for the cheapest one out there, spend the cash and get solid metal and decent size 3" or so.
Best bet is to get a 2-axis locking wheel, which Home Depot or others carry. They are not cheap, I think ~$20/ea ... but well worth the price to handle the load and work over carpet/etc.
Good luck. :)

Update: went back to Lowes today to the hardware/cabinet aisle and sure enough there was a bin near the floor with all types of casters. :applaud:
I got 2 swivel/w brake 3" industrial-type for $17.92 ($8.96each), and 2 rigid 3" for $13.92 ($6.96each)
Thanks for the help guys!
