Title: monitor woes
Post by: Magnet_Eye on April 01, 2003, 10:38:55 pm
i have a 19" arcade monitor. It's a samsung tube, with a Kortek chasis. Power is going to it, but it does nothing. It is BLACK. I wonder if anyone has any ideas for me?

I am thinking there might be some bad soldering points on the board or something. Who knows.  ???

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Well do you see glow from the neck part of the tube?  Do you hear any buzzing?  Have you checked the fuses (should be more than one).

Sorry if this was obvious.  I've seen lots of monitor troubleshooting 101 guides posted to Usenet and websites.  Probably a search in google can get you a little further along in figuring this out.

There is no glow. I don't hear much buzzing. Just a very faint hum of some kind..and i mean very faint.

Are the fuses on the chasis itself? i havent inspected to in depth, it is crowded in there. Also i am scared to come in contact with anything because everyone says its dangerous!!!

I was advised to get a cap kit, and check soldering points by someone on the newsgroups...

whatcha think?

Most problems I have seen with Kortek have been easy stuff. You probably need a cap kit.
