Title: Glowing light around Wii disc slot
Post by: shmokes on January 11, 2007, 03:31:32 am
When does the disc slot light up?  The only time I see it lit is for a split second when the console is first turned on.  Is this console defective?  I would have thought it would be glowing blue the whole time it is turned on, or at least when a disc-based game is being played.

I think it only light up for those moments when it expects you to insert a disc so that it can help you guide a disc into the slot. I think your Wii is fine. I'll double check with my own tonight. No time this morning. Getting ready for work.

If you want it to do more, I'd suggest...

Add your email address to your Wii contact list then send yourself an email.  Reply to your Wii address and the blue light will come on.  Don't read that email and the blue light won't turn off.

I did this but had second thoughts about the blue light running 24/7.

Yeah the email trick is cool but I wish it only worked when the console was powered up.  I suppose you could turn off connect24, but then the weather channel and such wouldn't work.

Hopefully nintendo will give us more control over it in a future update as it seems to be controlled via software.
