Title: Question for computer gurus about Serial ATA
Post by: Fig on January 08, 2007, 04:50:22 pm
Hi! New at Serial ATA drives and Im putting together a computer and the motherboard ( Asus A7N8X Deluxe) I got can support Serial ATA drives and my question is My board only supports Serial ATA 133 Looking at Tiger they only offer Serial ATA 150. If I buy a 150 I know it will not run at 150 but will it run at 133 or even run at all?

Thanks for your time

SerialATA doesn't have a 133 variant AFAIK.  It's either SATA 150 or SATA 300.

133 is a PATA (IDE) speed.  I had an A7N8X a while back too, and I used a SATA 150 drive.

Not true. A rift in the time space continuum. A world where Blinky will eat the dots and Pac-man will turn blue. I don't know about you... but I don't want to live in a world like that.

SATA started at 150.  Yes, you are talking about PATA 133.

I just purchased this drive a week ago on pricewatch, if you check there you can get it cheaper without a rebate...& i was very impressed going from a 8mg cache to a 16 mg cache really improved the system speed
