Title: Monitor setup
Post by: Hawkypro on January 07, 2007, 09:01:22 pm
Whats the best way to setup a monitor? I just received a new chassis from 8liners to replace my Hantarex Polo 25" chassis. Ive now got it all hooked up and it turns on with raster on the screen(blue at the moment). What is the first step on setting the color up the correct way. On the flyback there is two controlls G2(screen) and Focus and other controlls on the neck board and controller board. I understand what pincushion, vhold and ect. mean, but i just want to know how to start. Since I havent done this before any help from the experienced would be greatly appriciated.  Im using this in a Killer Instinct 2 machine.

Thanks,
Hawkypro

Tip: Dont mess with the neck as it will be difficult to adjust if you screw with it.  What I do, first get the voltage right so that no lines are running across the screen by adjusting the flyback. Then set your controls in the center as best as possible. Then adjust focus and brightness levels, try not to mess with the pincusion if it ok as this can make a sane man crazy. Make sure to use a plastic screwdriver to adjust the flyback, buy the set at radio shack for a few bucks,  Its a life saver.. Check out bobroberts and other sites for great tips and screen shots of this, good luck !

Glad you asked this question as I'll be doing exactly this in the coming week or 2.

Where did you connect the discharge lead?  Was it to the painted black cage or the shield around the flyback transformer?  Looks to me as if I can get a better, more secure grip on the shield, I'm 99.9% certain it is grounded.  Am I right?

Also, my tube is quite dirty with dust, are they safe to rub a duster over?

Paul_in_nottingham,

Since im still a rookie in setting up a chassis, I'll let some of the more experienced people on this site answer your questions. I did set my chassis up but need to start working on the raster for color, which i think is not a hard as i first thought.
