Title: CPViewer
Post by: greaser on January 05, 2007, 07:38:00 pm
Very confused about this program. I also tried the others like Johnny5, etc.

From what I understand I need a pic of my control panel. I cannot find anything concerning my control panel (Devastater II from Treyonics) and this program anywhere. Do I need to take an actual pic using a camera?

Do I need to make my own pic using a program? Tried to do this using cpmaker (i believe that's what it was called) but was very confused.

It seems like a great idea and probably one of the last things I'd like to have to complete my setup.

Is there a step by step guide somewhere or a program that configures everything for you available?

As always any help is appreciated.

NOPE!  I feel your pain.  I just finished designing mine and it was a real PITA.  There are several programs that will do most of what you want, but I haven't found one that will do everything - AND is easy to use.

Most people are using Photoshop or Illustrator, and I know they work great, but they are not easy to use.  Yes, I will probably get yelled at by the hordes of Photoshop users telling me how easy it is but it is not intuitive.  Yes, you can learn it over time I am sure but I have not found it for the feint of heart.

In the end what I did was just create the layout on Visio using the templates for each control that are available on this forum in the downloads section.  Then you can add that to photoshop as a layer and put your design over it.

Good lucK!

From what I understood, it had a sort of stock CG panel image, and then it (J5 in this case) would pickup up your controller (in this case, I-PAC), I guess through windows.  I didn't really get it, but that was the idea I got it was supposed to do....
