So any way, my 360 is coming through the mail and I want online game play but every where I check it points out that you need broadban.
I have cable high speed internet access. There is no broadban in the sticks where I live (no cell phones also), but we do have cable high speed internet. So am I out of luck or what? :hissy:
-
Sorry to break it to you, but cable high speed is just another fancy way to say broadband. ;)
DSL is considered broadband, too.
-
yeah i'm confused.... cable IS broadband.
Do you use a dial up modem ie 56k, cuz that is NOT broadband. If you're using Cable or DSL, you already have broadband.
-
I think he's just confused on the terminology. That's all.
-
Thanks guy. Your right I got broadband and DSL mixed up. :dizzy: Sounds like Im ok then.

If you don;t have a router you will want one. If you don't have a router I assume your computer is plugged into your cable modem. In order for both your 360 and PC to use the connection you will need a router. I highly suggest a Linksys router.

Wow totaly forgot about that. I can go wireless right or do I nee to crawl under the house again?
-
Yeah, you can go wireless. Just pick up a wireless router. It'll cost you more, but they're nice to have if running hard lines is difficult or impossible.
-
You'll also need either the expensive 360 wireless adaptor or a wireless bridge on the 360 side.
-
I would avoid using wireless for gaming though. They cause a lot of lag.
-
I haven't had issues with wireless and lag. I'm assuming you mean wireless internet. Either way, I've had no problems with wireless internet or wireless controllers.
What I have had a problem with is using the wireless as a media center extender. 11mb isn't fast enough to stream video/audio.

As a client it is fine. If you are hosting a game then avoid wireless. It's not the bandwidth that is the problem, it's the latency.
-
Aw, someone should have told him to crawl under the house again.
-
Crap, I have a coyote spending the winter under there right now. i guess ill chase him out long enough to get the job done. I know what your thinking but he eats the freak en ground squirrel and they rip apart my heating system. No way to keep em out because they will chew through The wall to get in.

That's you in your avatar, isn't it?
