Post by: ChadTower on January 04, 2007, 02:53:24 pm

Here at work I just had to process info for a guy named Richard Spotts.

Ow.   :laugh2:

Years ago I worked at a rental store.  A guy, must have been at least 65, came in to open account, had a valid drivers license.

Last Name:  Fagg

First Name:  Major

Don't know if it was a fake license (it looked real enough), he changed his name, or his parents doomed him.   I didn't ask either, cuz thats just a conversation thats not going anywhere good.

A few years back a guy named Dick Sweatt ran for Congress in NH.

Seriously.  I hear he lost in a runoff.

I went to school with a kid named Harrison Ashe. In our school, if you were late to a class or missed a day, you were called to the office over the intercom to tell the principal why. It seemed like this guys name was called every day. The principal was always very careful when he said the guys name - even put a pause between the first and last name.  :laugh2: :laugh2:

I've seen a few.  There was a Richard Head (though he went by Rick) in my high school and when I was a telemarketer I once called for Anita Hooker (though that could have just been a made up name that someone filled out on some contest entry form or something).  I knew a girl named Candy all through high school and shortly before the end of the year she showed me her drivers license and her first name was actually Candy-apple, with the hyphen and everything.

We had a Japanese foreign exchange girl my Sophmore year of high school whose name was Junko. It was pronounced June Co. (as in the abbreviation for company).

Nothing funny right? Well we went to Universal Studios on our band trip that year. At that time, they still had the E.T. ride. At the beginning, you give them your name so E.T. can say bye to you personally at the end of the ride. E.T., that pimpin fool, greeted her with a "Goodbye, Junk Hoe". That was some good stuff I tell 'ya.

I was there a couple of months ago and they had the ET ride.  Looked to be in great shape, too.  We went on it about 8 times.  No lines.

I read somewhere they tore it down to put in a new ride. Guess that source was wrong. I liked that ride. My favorite part was all the set pieces you got to walk past while in line.

I had a teach in college who had a long Chinese name and told us to use the abbreviation LiC instead of using his first name, which made is name Lic Wang.  He actually wanted it to be pronounced Li-C Wang, but I don't think anyone ever did.

I'm missing this one...short "a" and the "e" is silent, right, 'cause I'm coming up blank, unless I "stretch" it.

I figured it was because Harry is short for Harrison, so it would be Harry Ashe.

I work for a newspaper and we do change of name statements...this is probably the meanest I have come across:

A nice afro-american lady came in and changed her name from (no ---That which is odiferous and causeth plants to grow---) IONA BLACK to IONA BLACKWELL.

What kind of screwed up parents did she have?

My brother's name is Richard Skinner, but nobody ever seemed to make the connection except me.

The funny thing is that mom said she took extra time to make sure we didn't have names that could be made fun of. Guess that one slipped past her.  :dunno

My mom used to do some tailoring for a guy named Dick Bone. We always laughed when she would say he is coming over for a fitting.

Here in Edmonton there is a very prominent family name Hole.   One of the prominent members of that family had the first name of Harry.

Here it is in a news article.

Well I'd imagine with a name like that you HAVE to become something successful like a doctor so you have something up on the people picking on you.

just came across some funny record cover art on flickr for a guy name "richard smallwood" some kind of christian rock band.

and when i was in high school i used to work at a 10 minute oil lube joint and we got a check from a "phuk yu" i think he was vietnamese oh had a great laugh over that one, i used to work at an ad ageancy in chicago with a "misty sheets" and "hunter reams" both not porn stars although you cant tell from their names. and the by far worst one i ver came across was a very nice african american girl named "Shampoolee"(with an accent over the last E) like "Shampoo-ley" maybe her mom worked in a hair salon or something. i always love a good humorous name like that, i was almost named, and i mean almost my dad had to convince my mom that it would be bad and i would be teased "Rusty Carr" and then 4 years later my dad had to step in again to convince her that my sister should not be named "Lisa Carr".... oh waht fun

Had a math teacher named Richard Horney.

Also a kid who rode my school bus named Wally Boner.  Bad enough his first name was Wally...  Everyone pronounced it Bone-er, but when the office lady made announcements over the school intercom she couldn't do it and pronounced it Bahhn-ur.
