This may seem like a silly question but I'm still learning.
Can you use a single mech coin door for a multi player control panel?

Im not sure on this but if you can configure mame to allow the credit button for each player to be the same then whenever a quarter is used it gives one credit to eveyone.
-
it would be a problem for most 2p games.

From my experience there are very few games that care which slot the coin is put into and for those very few games you could just use a coin in button. In the arcade one of the coin slots was usually broken anyway.

Thats why I was wondering. I don't remember many, if any games that you had to put coins in separate slots for player 1 & 2. But I thought I should ask and see what people had to say about it.

Any game that has an assigned "spot" for a character requires that credit be given from that players coin slot. Gauntlet comes to mind.

Not quite true...... NOT Any Game... although Guntlet does work that way. Most games even with an asigned spot just require you to hit the player start button for that player and just deduct it from the total credit available.
You could just add a hidden coin button for the second player coin insert. That way you can just use it when you have to.

Yes and No. Over the past weekend, I have notice a few games that had problems with 1 coin door/button. Luckily for me at least, my 4 player cp each had 4 button and none of those games ever used the 4th button. Pretty sure you know where I am going.
For those games, I just assign the 4th button to the coin for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th player. So far I have had only needed to do that to about 2 or 3 games.

Exactly what I do. Just re-map an unused button for P2 credit. Works great.

Thanks for the great replies and info. I guess to avoid any issues I'll just get a two mech coin door. Thanks again.
