Title: some questions regarding washed out colors/ultimarc video amp
Post by: Cuba on December 30, 2006, 02:38:04 am
A little while ago I posted regarding my monitor, its kind and whether an avga would work.  Well I know now that it is a standard res monitor.  The chassis is a definitely a Kortek / Sharp Image KTM-F/ KTX series
(http://www.jomac.net.au/KTM-F_KTX_SharpImage_Sejoo.JPG)

Ive got the avga hooked up properly, but the picture doesnt look right. The colors look weak.  When I play dvds everything looks kinda grey.  Is this because I need a video amp?

I dunno where to start addressing the problem; is there any way to tell whether this chassis expects 5 volts in?  If I get a video amp and plug it in when it isnt neccessary will I blow something up?

Nope.
I just want to be sure I dont damage the monitor.  What would happen if the chassis does indeed want 1 volt and I hook up the vid-amp outputting 5?

Arcade monitors are expecting 5V.  They may display output with only 1V, but usually it's dim.
