Hi. I'm wondering if anyone can help:
I received an arcade panel for Christmas but the trackball (Happs 3") and spinner (SlikStik Tornado), when plugged into USB recognize and work fine in windows--even in the MAME interface. But once a game begins they cease to function. I have "enable mouse" option checked in MAME's settings. If I attach either into the "mouse" PS/2 port both work in and out of MAME games running, but not via USB. Unfortunately I have only one "mouse" PS/2 port. Neither will work when plugged into the PS/2 port HP has flagged with a "keyboard" icon.
Since neither spinner nor trackball device appears to have a manufacturer driver it is difficult to play with drivers, settings and any potential conflicts using the Device Manager of the Hardware section of the System control panel.
Had some troubles at first with my IPAC and UltraStiks recognizing on each restart without having to rerun the panel and stick config programs each time. But using a little fix-it program from Ultimarc today these devices appear to be working fine with every restart now.
I'm running MAME32 optimized for Athlon 64 chips, version 0.111 on an HP a1600n PC. It has my cabinet manufacturer and I scratching our heads what to try next.
Any help would be warmly considered.

Mame now sees each mouse device seperately, and defaults player 1 to use mouse one, player 2 to use mouse two, ect. Sounds like your ps/2 mouse is mouse 1, and your mouse devices through the USB are mouse 2 and up
Remap "Input (general)" and you're good to go.

Much appreciated! That did it! Trackball functioning now. Just need to handle the spinner tomorrow--both to get it functioning and work on its sensitivity (if that is possible).

I have the same problem. In windows, the pointer will "follow" the trackball in every direction. When I would load up Golden Tee, it would change clubs if I rolled the track ball to the right but if I rolled the trackball in any other direction, it would only turn the player to the right. How do you re-map this Happ trackball? I know to press <tab> once I'm in the game. But what do I do once I'm in there? My trackball is plugged into the PS2 slot and my regular mouse is plugged into the USB slot. FYI, my regular mouse works fine with Golden Tee. I roll it back, the club backswings. I roll it forward, and it swings through as normal. So I'm thinking it has to be a mapping problem. I just don't know exactly how to do it.
Thanks!
Mike

When I fixed mine to work I went to the General Input. Then I selected the player 1 section. In that under trackball analog X I pressed the enter key and then rolled my trackball along the X axis. It logged in when I did that "Mouse X" in that data field. Then I selected the Trackball analog Y and pressed the enter key and then rolled my trackball along the Y axis. It logged "Mouse Y" in that data field.
I then repeated this procedure for the player 2 controls section. After doing that my trackball began to function fine during play, doing exactly what it is expected to do when you roll it one direction or another within Golden Tee.
See if that helps.
