First off, I know this topic (or some variation of it) has been done more times than a protitute on Hollywood Blvd, but the search function of the forum sucks something fierce, and this is what the forum is all about...so there!
PARTY GAMES! What are some of the best party games for MAME and why?!
The first game to add to the list is GOLDEN TEE GOLF. Any of the variations of this game makes for some fun times...
I have also been playing quite a lot of SHUUZ! This game of Horse Shoes is damn fun...and the 3 player head-to-head as well as the 4-player team action is a blast with friends over.
Two other games that have been played a lot while friends over are BLADES OF STEEL and FOOTBALL FRENZY. Both games are a good time, but the games tend to be a little long...good for when a friend is over...but not so good with a group of friends.
Name your party game...and why.

World Class Bowling
-
You Dont Know Jack (ok, its a PC game, but damn if it isnt a blast on the arcade!)
-
Battle Flip Shot. Easy to learn, competitive, and a darn good drinking game.
Any of the four player games. Good way to kill some time and everyone feels like they're doing something. The Cows of Moo Mesa, Sunset Riders, The Simpsons, TMNT, Wrestlemania, etc..........
Golden Tee's. Already noted.
Puzzloop. My wife loves that game and anyone can play it.
Tetris Grand Master. The king of all heads up games for "noobs". Everyone knows Tetris and rarely do friends who've never seen a mame cabinet seen it so clear.

if you have a cocktail cab, space invaders II and hotshots tennis

I pretty much just play most of the classics by my self because there is nothing for the other person to do while they wait for you to die (alternating player games - dig dug, donkey kong, asteroids, etc) . Plus if you are good, the other person has to wait a long time and gets really bored. Thats the only reason those aren't on my list.

When my buddies are over, the down time is used to badger the person playing into screwing up.
Its more fun than some of the games.

Shuffleshot. Definately Shuffleshot. Since I have two Act-Labs rayguns, any 2-player gun games (Sharpshooter, Egg Venture, Zero Point, HOTD2 (PC version)) get played a lot when I have company over.
You Don't Know Jack is definately a great party game, but it has the huge downside of needing a full keyboard. When I do play it on the cab, I use the Censored version since most of my cab-players are 12 and under. Trivia games are popular around my house, so Trivial Pursuit and even Quiz and Dragons gets time on my cab.
Oh, I almost forgot Track and Field and Hyper Sports. Four-player games on a two-player cab.

4 player wrestlefest in royal rumble mode is pee-in-your-pants fun...of course, I guess when actual quarters aren't at stake it won't be as funny when you toss a guy out right after he coins up. :laugh2:

I forgot to mention it earlier in my original post since only was thinking of MAME games.
For non MAME games...
Friends. Sceen it Trivia. It's on a Dusty DVD but someone asked to play it and once started, went over well.
HOTD2 & HOTD3
YDNJ of course
Virtual Cop
