Title: Horizontal line scrolling upwards when playing MAME games.
Post by: rdowdy95 on December 20, 2006, 09:48:40 pm
On some of my beatem up games like Final Fight, TMNT, Golden Axe, Altered Beast...etc I see a scroling horizontal line that moves upward kind of slowly.  What is this line...  Is this how the arcades used to do it.  I am using a Sharp TV S-video...

Is it an actual LINE, or is it more like a "shift" in the graphics?

If it's more like a shift, that moves up, this is what we call "tearing". The way to fix it is usually to turn on vertical sync (vsync).

Oh it could possibley be a minor shift.  Not noticeable when I play unless I start to stare at it.

Enabling 'triplebuffering' in MAME is also supposed to help this.

While we're on the subject, can this be fixed in MAMEOX?  Which for those not in the know, is Mame on XBOX...
