O.K. so I started this trek with a Mame cabinet idea which isn't built yet, but I'm selling this idea to my wife by saying I can build her a jukebox after the mame cabinet. I like the touch screen idea. How much would I pay for the touchscreen and adapters to hook it up to a computer? Is there a link somewhere you guys can share?
Thanks in advance!

That's exactly how I sold mine to my wife... LOL
As far as adapters, most touchscreens are really just regular PC monitors with a touchscreen overlay, so they'll have a VGA or DVI connector for video and a serial or USB connector for the touchscreen data. When the drivers are installed, it should just act like a mouse. The mouse data reports absolute directions only, so applications which measure mouse movement will have trouble (usually DirectX apps), similar to a lightgun.
As far as cost, a quick check on eBay will give you lots of options. It's worth noting, however, that touchscreens in 19" size or higher can get real expensive real quick, and you're already going to have a panel full of perfectly usable buttons. Also, with a touscreen you can't put glass or plexi in front of the monitor as you would normally have on an arcade cabinet.

I just purchased a refurbished 15" at geeks.com for $181.00 shipped.

Cookie Good score on the touchscreen. Looks like the same unit I used on my juke.

Don't mean to hijack the thread here, but BobA how do you find SK Jukebox goes with the 15" touchscreen.
Did you make any changes to the layout to make the font bigger in the full album view when selecting a song? I am currently using a 15" non-touchscreen as a trial before possibly taking the plunge and getting a touchscreen and was worried that the wrong song may be easily selected due to the font size and line spacing.
Also what screen res are you running 800x600 or something else?
Thanks.

Sorry about the thread hijack
My screen is a 15 inch and I am running 800x600 which is not native to the monitor but it is the best I can get out of the old PC that is in my jukebox. I made most of the fonts in the display a bit larger to help with my old eyes and also to give larger targets for the touch. I do not select the wrong song that often but I find that I do delete the wrong song in the play list as they are fairly small there. I do not want to increase the font size much more as I want to list as many as possible. I don't delete single songs from that list very often anyway.
Overall I give SKjuke a 9 out of 10 for ease of use. You dont need quarter sized buttons that some of the juke programs offer if your finger coordination is good.

Thanks very much for the info BobA.
I initially had it at 1024*768 but found it a little small so am running at 800*600.
I will have a play with font size before deciding about taking the plunge to touchscreen or not.
