Title: Ipac Programming on Startup
Post by: Zeosstud on December 18, 2006, 02:51:45 pm
Afternoon All and Happy Holidays,
I recently built a bartop cab using Bish's plans.  Got a Thinkpad Notebook and docking station as the guts running windows xp pro.  Anyway for whatever reason I have to program the Ipac everytime I boot.  Curious is anyone knows some command line switch or something similar that i can stick in the startup, so it does it automatically.

Problem: (USB Only) Board appears not to work until WinIPAC is run every time. Yellow exclamation marks in Control Panel, Device Manager.
This is a rare problem, and is caused by a registry error. It is suspected that this problem occurs if the board is regularly swapped from one USB port to another, or different board versions used on the same PC. Microsoft have been alerted to this problem. To fix this problem, download this file http://www.ultimarc.com/Ipacfix.reg (http://www.ultimarc.com/Ipacfix.reg) and click on it. This deletes all references to the I-PAC in the registry. Then unplug and reconnect the board.

If you would rather do this manually here is what to do:
The fix involves registry editing, the usual caution should be observed.
Run regedit, and open Hkey_Local_Machine/System/CurrentControlSet/Enum/HID and delete the keys containing VID D209 Also Hkey_Local_Machine/System/CurrentControlSet/Enum/USB and delete the same keys. You might have to right-click and set permissions to do this. Unplug and re-connect the board.

Or make a batch file to run this at system start

C:\Program Files\WinIpac\WinIpac.exe C:\Documents and Settings\lee\My Documents\Ipac Cfg\config.ipc

Changing lee for where ever you doucuments is called .

This is a great utility.  Hmmm I wonder why it is not referanced (a bit like the old control panel drivers that fix the arcadevga problems) on the website itself.

Ultimarc appear to have a number of fix utilities on the website ......... It seems a shame we have to find out where they are 2nd hand

I wonder how rare this issue really is. I had the problem too. Anyway that little program his fixed most of my IPAC stability problems. However, on freeze restarts I find that UltiMarc's Ultra Stiks still generate the same yellow exclamation marks and don't work till I unplug/replug them back in--very inconvenient since the PC is in a cab.

Wish they could help me solve that issue.
