Title: Tekken 5 Cabinet Design

I was thinking about using the Tekken 5 arcade design for my MAME cab. Its nice and flat and deceivingly simple. I'm not much of a wood-worker and I was wondering if I could get any opinion on the difficultly of building a setup like this:

I attached the intuitive dimensions of all the wooden parts I would need to have cut out. The reason I'm asking is that this isnt a "box" style arcade, its a lot more spacy and linear. I might be neglecting to notice a few features which are critical for it to looking right.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

That isn't a standard Tekken 5 cabinet.... That's a Japanese generic multi game cabinet. I have a Tekken 5 at work and it's nothing like that one at all.

That said, that one you are showing would be pretty easy to build if you know someone who can weld.... It has a steel frame, that's what gives it its strength. A totally wooden version probably wouldn't work well.

Ah, I realized that as well. Thats why I'm going to use a 26" LCD screen, to control the weight issue.

I figure that the way its angled, with the floor supports (maybe actually add weight to the base) it would have good stability. Do you think those modifications would work for a pure wood design?

Another reason I choose thise design, is I can swing open/closed the supporting flaps on the legs, swing down the control panel, and put wheels on the legs and move it around for portability (its nice and flat).

You might still have to beef up the side support struts... But if you build those parts as a box section, almost simulating the metal tubes, but in wood, then it could work out rather neatly.

The only thing to think about with that, is that there isn't a lot of space in the base section.
