Title: Buffing out scratches in plexiglass
Post by: More Cowbell on December 14, 2006, 09:08:14 am
Is it possible to buff out scratches in plexiglass? I have a Donkey Kong bezel which has some light scratches and some deeper scratches. Ideas?

I think they make some form of finishing for clear plastics (Lexan, acrylics, plexi) I saw a pretty slick tutorial on cleaning and polishing a pinball machine. Im pretty sure its the same deal here they make a few step process to remove scratches (prep. apllication. clean). Im sure someone here has the info you are looking for. I myself have never tried it but I guarantee you can get that DK bezel looking good! While listening to some blue oyster cult that is (joke on your username)

I did a google for "plexiglass scratch repair" and came up with several hits for products and tips.  This one stood out to me as it is from the DIY cable network (http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/ab_windows/article/0,2021,DIY_13702_2278676,00.html).   There also seems to be quite a bit of information in Google Groups (http://groups.google.com/groups?q=plexiglass+scratch+repair&hl=en&lr=&sa=X&oi=groups&ct=title).

Good luck and try to take some pics and let us know how you make out in your repairs. :)
