My turn to have a crack at this.
read "the good book" and got hooked, have almost finished the build of the cabinet now and have started to document the work over at
http://waldonuts.blogspot.com/
So far the cabs Black with Black :) all i have decided is that it will be called Betsy
As this is my first cab the design is basically from the Project Arcade book, alteration happen on the fly as I change materials etc it seems.
I have used MDF (dusty mofo) that is used in a lot of cheap kitchen cabinets over here in NZ as it came pre-sealed in black :) and as my father in law is a builder, had his assistance in getting one of his friends who makes cabinets full time, put a runbber sealing all around the edging to save me putting on the T-mold :)
I shall endevour to recover some pics of construction from my now dead HDD, and update with some more pics before I get too far in.
Big ups to all the people on this forum who have answered questions along the way :) ....more to follow in the next few days :)
Heres a mockup of a possible marquee

That's a cool marquee design but the font is a little tough to read (to me anyway). I look forward to lots of pics!

Picked up my Plexi today from Bunnings, got a big size so i can obviously practise before I make the final for fear of stuffing up :)
Its a 120mm x 90mm sheet that set me back a staggering $10.60 NZD, so thats like $7 USD I think. Anyway I think I was charged for the wrong item but who am I to complain.
You can also see my rough and ready plastic template for my CP, measuer trice cut once or something I believe is how its suppose to go.
Then there my cp base with a few parts in it, 2 GGG 8/4 ways and a random stick i found at a flea market, I have another two somewhere, seeing which ones I like the feel of first. Currently its the GGG ones, due to the short throw that they have....I'm rather lazy and all that. I also have two replacement shafts in the box for the GGG sticks, tried them as they are they dont feel right though, still have some play up/down on them, might mount one of the stick in wood and have another go, either that or im doing something wrong.
That Blue tool in the bottom right corner of the CP is great for removing/adding the clips to the shafts....its amazing what you will find in a builders shed when there not looking lol.
....still havent been able to retrieve the cabinet build photos, might have to take some new ones now I have moved into the spare room :banghead: Less dust in there atm.

The font looks like high end graffiti. Nice.
Why the name Betsy?
Good luck with the build.

Why the name Betsy?
First PC I named Betsy for some reason, then in talking to one of my mates the other day from our old gaming team KTP, found out his first case got the name Betsy as well...and I just think that big black woman suit the name for some reason heh.
As to the Haka enquiry..... I shall be approaching the local iwi to dicuss various protocols surrounding the arcade war dances.

I spent Sunday afternoon in the Father-in-Laws shed drilling the CP and routing out the trackball etc.....OMG I thought MDF was dusty sawing it...routing it is a whole new level of dust. Next day lungs felt like crap....note to self dont be so macho put on a mask.
Routing was interesting, didnt do too bad on the trackball area. The hole for the stick bolts need some tidying up, but since Ill be putting on some Plexi and cp art, so it wont be an issue.
Almost destroyed my sheet of plexi as well as I didnt have a 28mil speed bit and just tried what i used for the button holes.....it really is amazong how fast plexi glas can shatter witha 30Volt drill going in :)
