Ok, I've been planning on building a MAME cabinet for a couple years now, and I've finally got some cash I can put towards the project. I'm planning to spend the holidays working on this as soon as finals are over.
Step one: The cabinet.
I want to make a four-player cabinet. Originally I was going to make a very simple 2 player cabinet, and then have a USB port on either side to plug in game pads for 4 player action. But I'd really rather build a 4 player cabinet. I was looking at the plans at mameroom.com, but I'm reluctant to buy plans if I'm not going to end up using them, so I was wondering if anyone else has any experience with their plans, specificly the 4-player control panel and the Ultimate Arcade II cabinet? Are they worth the money?
No arcades around here have any of the old 4-player cabinets for me to go take measurements or anything... we have one arcade and its mostly pinball and a few of the silly-looking molded plastic modern mostrosities.
