For Example I have SW Trilogy, Virtua Striker 99, Dragons Lair, etc
And they all say when I load, game might not work properly and then I get a blue screen???
why this happens?

#1 Dragon's Lair is not a 3D game...it is a Laserdisc game. If you want to run Dragon's Lair you can either (A) Wait for support in MAME (within the next 6 months likely) or go get "Daphne"...a different emulator that currently emulates a number of Laserdisc games.
#2 MAME does not use ANY "graphics card" processing because they are all different and the idea of MAME is that it runs "RIGHT" on every system. You will find that MAME runs the same on an old piece of crap video card as it would on a brand new Nvidia/ATI card. If you are looking for GPU support, there are a number of alternatives to MAME to look in to...
#3 MAME isn't about playing games, but rather PRESERVING and DOCUMENTING video games. Playing is just a nice side effect.

ok, so how I can play the 3D games like SW Trilogy, Virtua Strikers etc?
-
Try a different emulator? Get the PC versions? Uh, buy the actual arcade cabinets? Um, er....I dunno. I haven't used many other emulators than MAME so I can't comment on how well they work....but you aren't going to get many 3D games up and running on MAME at a decent frame rate anytime soon.

but do these high end games work your mame?
I've only used Mame32 v0.90
-
Right now Dragon's Lair is NOT WORKING in MAME. The other two, I am not sure about, frankly...anyone else?
-
I also have Soul Calibur and Star Wars Arcade, they also give the same message but at least you can access the game, but once there, its a complete mess and unpleyable.
I don't know if its a problem with the roms or my settings.
Thats why I ask.

When mame says "this game will not work properly" do expect it to.

Translation for dummies like me: There probbly is not anything wrong with your PC set-up the messge just means mame has not emulated this game fully yet with that version/rom ;D

ah, ok, thanks.

Not only will some not work, but the ones that do will run mad slow, even with a fast pc. If you want to run 3d games with hardware acceleration, you need Zinc. It doesn't support every 3d game of course, but it will speed them up a ton and look purdy too. I'd like to see what a Core 2 Extreme would do though, just for kicks... Anyone?

Wow, it takes a stacked machine to play most of those games at any decent rate. Core 2 at 3.6 is seriously smokin. In a few years perhaps we'll all be playing some Blitz....

I wish they posted some older results for those of us without top of the line machines in our cabs. I have an Athlon XP 2000+ in mine now and I have access to an P4 2.4 GHz processor/board, and I'm wondering if there will be a big enough difference to make it worthwhile to swap them out...

He had older systems before (on older mame's, of course), but as time goes on, he upgrades his systems, and since mame changes too, he has to run the benchmarks again or they'd be out of date.
I wish he'd leave the historical benchmarks up, but it's not my web site. [shrug] Maybe wayback it?

Maybe wayback it?
Good idea!

There is another Mame benchmarking page here (http://benchmark.mameworld.net/).
