Title: Mame 32 Tempest Help!
Post by: acevedor2 on December 10, 2006, 12:07:20 am
I cannot get Tempest to show up in Mame 32, even though it is in the Roms folder in the Mame directory.  Other games work fine and I have downloaded CLRMame and run it as well.  I just cannot get the game to show up so I can play it.  I am using Mame 32 110u5, although I had the same problem when I was using U3.  Has anyone experienced this same problem and does anyone have any idea how I can make it work?  Thanks in advance for any help.

Ok, I am fairly certain it is a version/rom problem.  I ran Tempest on V62 and it runs fine.  However, Tempest, Asteroids, and several others do not like the new version of Mame.  Any one have a fix?  I really want to use the new features of the latest version of Mame, but I also want to be able to play Tempest and Asteroids - 2 of my favorites.  Help....

Ahhhhh!!!  Now it makes sense.  Any idea where I can get the latest Rom that will run with .110 or .111?  Thanks!

Asking where to get roms is a no-no... please don't do that here!  :police:

I aplogize, I didn't realize.  That said, everything I have read regarding MAME has indicated that there is no legal entitlement to a LARGE majority of these roms.  So with the exception of a select few, I am unsure as to why it is taboo to mention them or their locations?  Again, I am not trying to be obtuse, and of course I will adhere to the forum rules, I am just a little confused as to why it is a problem.  Thanks again for all the help.

If I remember correctly, there are two (2) Mame roms that are in the public domain.  Gridlee and Robby Roto.  Both are available on the mame website.  Other roms do have copyright holders, and some are in grey areas.
