How do ya make a link on this forum but just have a link look like this...
Link here instead of the link looking like this for example...
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?action=post;board=7.0
Do you have the code for that and could you share it with me? Appreciate any help...Thanks!!
-
It's in the help and there is a button for it right above the smileys.
link text
-
Thanks Chad!
With the link above the smileys with the 'Insert Hyperlink' Icon...I get this
Not this...link text
Big difference there...Which tag Icon one has the coding that you posted? Am I missing something?"
Thanks again!
-
None, it expects you to fill in the URL and link text yourself.
Type in the link text, highlight it, and press the button. Then add the URL.
-
Appreciate that!
I would still also have to add = < > Right?
My new link method in action below!! Thanks Chad!
-
You need to add the =.
Do not add the <>. Those are general technical characters meaning "user enters something here".
-
Chad is correct. To see this:
Link to this topic (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=60904.0)
that has this url: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=60904.0
The code is:
Link to this topic
Don't use any quotes around the URL, and be sure to use a full locator string (e.g. http://, ftp://, etc.)
-
THANKS GUYS!!
New question though now!!
Ok you know how all them guys got those fancy banners in there signature...
Well what would the code be to have a link attached to a regular image? I checked the help and i don't think it covers that one!!
I built my wife a new website for her carvings. I want to get this image
(http://www.nicecarvings.com/assets/images/Nice_Carvings_Ani_1_Animation.GIF)
hot linked to this website www.nicecarvings.com
again, Thank you for the help and Merry Christmas! If you celebrate...

You can wrap it with the url bbc code still. Most formatting BBC codes are stackable.
This:

Gives you this:
(http://www.nicecarvings.com/assets/images/Nice_Carvings_Ani_1_Animation.GIF) (http://www.nicecarvings.com/)
-
Thanks Sir woogie!! You make it really easy on me!!
Merry Christmas!!

If you center it, it looks even cooler.. :)

I'd recommend not animating it. Animated image sigs are usually the start of the crapping up of a perfectly good forum with too much noise.

Hmmm. That was nicely put.

Hey I do like that better centered. Thanks miles!!
PS: Chad I think my animated banner is not that much of a "crap up" as long as I don't get two of them right on top of each other like I managed to do right here :-[
See if I can fix this

There all better!

I worded that very carefully to avoid it being an insult to you or your specific banner. It was a comment on animated gifs in general.
Yes, there are some as a natural part of the forum. That is exactly why adding more of them (and a banner is many many times the size of those icons) is usually a bad idea.
-
Chad-
The way you worded it was insulting to us. (Albeit indirect, you are good at that.) However, you are right as usual and I have removed the ani banner.
You win.
