I'm working on a 3/4 sized cab for my daughters for Christmas (as seen in Project Announcements). And I've got a rough CPO that I need some input on. The shape of the CP will follow the gradient design seen in this graphic.
What else does it need? Bubbles around buttons? More graphics (cinderella, etc).
Thanks!

Well, you have a beauty down in the middle. I guess you need a beast too! :o ;D

Are those the Player 1 and 2 start buttons at the top? You could have 1 shoe for player one and 2 shoes for player two.
-
Ya, I thought about that. But I am using 1P/2P buttons, so I thought it would be understood.
Also, I have just noticed that I apparently locked my lines on the wrong photoshop guides on the bottom-left angle. I must be cross-eyed to have missed that before.

Ok, I fixed the lines, and added some "bubbles". Getting closer?

Or do you like this "bubble" better (the one on P1 side)

I find the contrast between cinderella and the rest of the graphics to high. Beware of just putting some graphics here and there. That way it won't be a whole, but just loose things. That was my fault when designed my first layout of a CPO. Try using a few large graphics area's that support each other. Colours that are complementary.
Try using different styles and don't be afraid to start all over again to try something new. That way you can inspire yourself a bring the CPO to a new and higher level. Look around to other CPO's if you didn't do so allready.
Good luck!

I agree with the blue not fitting. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll try a different approach for that.
The cabinet is going to be a light blue on the sides, and a light purple (lavender) on the front/top/back. I thought the castle tile design is about perfect for the purple color I will be using, but I will find another way to incorporate the light blue color.
Thanks,

I'm getting close to sending this thing to the printer. Just wanted to know if anyone saw something that needed changing.
I replaced the blue cinderella with a white dress version (my wife's idea, I knew I married her for something!)
For reference, the cabinet is going to be painted both light blue and light purple (matching the CPO colors closely). I have some purple translucent balltops from ponyboy, and white buttons.
Thanks,
Stobe

Personally, I liked it better when you had separate bubbles for the joystick and buttons.

Don't send it in yet. I have some ideas. Gimme a bit.

I can't argue with that. A guest appearance in my thread :)

Here's an attempt. There's actually a mouse that's supposed to be hanging off that key but I didn't want to spend any more time vectorizing if this isn't something of interest. The airbrushed cinderella would be tough to find at a printable resolution, she'd probably have to be vectorized (and would look more like an animation still... like the key.. than a painting. Buttons are for position only. Still thinking about how to detail the joysticks and buttons but as I said, I shouldn't keep playing around if this isn't useable.

Wow PH! That looks cool. But there has been an 11th hour change in the colors. I'm still using the Bipidi Bopidy Blue for the sides, but now the "shelves" (front, top, back, etc) will be "Pretty in Pink"
Both colors can be seen at this link:

Perhaps if the pink replaced the purple semi-circles? And perhaps start the blue gradient with a little lighter blue?
Thanks for helping out!

Like-a so?

Dead on!
Any way I can get a PSD of that, so I can superimpose my drilling template?
Also, do you think it needs any "bubbles" around the sticks/buttons?
Thanks a ton.

Nice and clean design! :applaud:

Pixelhugger - very very nice work! This thing is going to look great. I do have a couple of suggestions though -
1. I'd get rid of the key in the middle on the top. For some reason it just doesn't look right to me even though I like the idea behind it.
2. I'd add the name of the cab on the left and right at the top in some super girly pink and yellow/blue font (to match). It seems a little vacant there.
This is kind of the idea but I'm no graphic artist. If my ideas stink - no worries.
Stobe - your daughter is going to love this thing!!

Pixelhugger you do terrific work, I like the idea of the mouse on the key. :D Maybe use some of the Fairy Godmother's magic sparkles around the joys and buttons. If you are going to add any other characters from the movie I'd add the prince and the godmother. Otherwise don't do much more if you want it simple. It is all up to you Stobe.

Revision.

That looks great, nice and simple. How about a big cartoony cloud to go around the buttons and joysticks. One cloud per side. Again, real nice PH
